Summary
Four cases of infective endocarditis were observed in 73 autopsyes performed in patients with Aids. The patients were severely undernourished and had been receiving parenteral nutrition by central venous catheterization for at least 26 days. Although we do not have a comparison population, our findings suggest that parenteral nutrition through central catheterization might predispose Aids patients to infective endocarditis.
