Summary

Superficial mycoses are infections caused by fungi that invade only tissues of the skin or its appendages (stratum corneum, nails, hair). Transmission is usually from person to person. Trichophyton, Epidermophyton and Microsporum are most commonly involved.

They are currently classified in Keratophytosis, Dermatophytosis and Candidosis.
