Summary
The Munchausen’s syndrome is a variant of chronic fictitious illness with predominantly physical signs and symptoms under the conscious control of the patient without any obvious gain.
This disorder may mimic many different conditions, especially acute abdominal pain, hemorrhagic disorders, rheumatologic manifestations, fictitious fever, injury of skin, etc.
This is a case report of a three-year-old girl with hematemesis, wich caused the child to undergo many harmfull diagnostic procedures. Probably is a case of Munchausen’s syndrome by proxy, a variant of Munchausen’s syndrome in wich parents, frequently the mother produce physical sign and symptoms in their child.
