Summary

We studied 62 lupus patients by two-dimensional and Doppler echocardiography. 66,12% had findings (29,03% with mitral valve prolapse; 20,96% with other valvular disease; 11,29% with pericarditis and 11,29% with diffuse myocardial alterations). The findings were more common in patients with long disease duration (p=0,006) and did not correlate with age of disease appearence (p=0,262). Only 9 of such patients had clinical symptons.
We concluded that ecocardiography findings are very common in lupus mainly in those with longer disease many of which are assintomatic.
