Summary

The author describes the cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevalence in post-menopausal women, presenting the estrogen’s effects on the lipid profile and in the carbohidrates metabolism and in the body mass composition. Aditionally, shows the hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) effects on hemostasy, blood pressure, arterial function and epidemiologic data about HRT on the CVD and the risk factors reduction and the clinical results on myocardial ischemia.

Finally, shows the methodologic problems related to the hers study. The conclusion is that THR shows beneficials effects on the cardiovascular system.
