Discussion: The procedure must strictly obey the indications and be performed with knowledge and experience in the technique.

Conclusion: Specifically in the very early days of life, umbilical catheterization provides temporary access to the blood circulation. Due to its invasive aspect, the procedure must always be performed by skilled hands.
